What, if anything, are you doing differently?
I just began taking a creative writing course with a group of about 10 people via Zoom. We’re writing 3 short pieces during each class and sharing them with each other. The creativity and connection with others has felt surprisingly good.
Are you staying creatively active?
I’ve downloaded two artistic apps, Procreate and Sketchbook. I’m committing 30mins./hour each day to play with these tools and learn how to create digital artwork.
Procreate is helping me draw my garden beds, detail their plants and plan for future plantings.
Using Google Arts & Culture, I’ve toured The Van Gogh Museum and the Monets at the Art Institute of Chicago.
How are you sparking yourself creatively?
I’ve just turned an unused guest bedroom into an art studio. I’ve got a couple of canvasses and paints set up for both oils and watercolors.
After learning through Ancestry.com that some of my ancestors lived in a small Italian town hundreds of years ago, I’m virtually strolling down the same streets they walked via the Google Earth app. Some of the screenshots I’ve taken could become reference for paintings.
I’m also watching one Ted Talk a day to inspire myself and learn more.
