How I stay in sync with the motion crewas a stills photographer
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • •
As a photographer - when it comes to working on motion and video sets, we have seen the trend: motion is king and the photographer gets the clock.
Despite the tight timing, we’re still responsible for delivering high-quality images that meet the demands of a still campaign, from composition to leaving space for logos and typography.
My role as a photographer is all about timing and collaboration. With video at the forefront, I work alongside - quietly and efficiently, creating images that align seamlessly with the campaign.

The Strategy • How I Work

I always am respectful of the fact that the motion team has priority, but that’s not going to stop me from being as quick and "ninja’esque" as possible – in and out of sets, quiet as a mouse: A Ninja Mouse
Preparation is key. I make my introduction during PPM and pre-light days, ensuring the crew knows I’m part of the team, ready to collaborate.
I work with the continuous lighting set ups from the motion team, seamlessly creating my images without interrupting the flow.
When time allows, I also have my own lighting setup ready to go, giving full control.

It’s all about making the most of those precious few minutes—being aggressive but respectful, bold but invisible, all while staying in sync with the motion crew.
